General Review
As Manager of Operations at a large regional office of a national consulting firm, Austin was instrumental in downsizing their operations so it could weather the economic slump and remain profitable. He did this so well that he found himself without a position; he had downsized himself out of a job. Austin never looked for a job before; his previous positions were obtained through executive recruiters who had contacted him in the rising economy of earlier years. This time was different; he knew it and so decided to utilize the services of R.L. Stevens to help him speed his search process.
With coaching from an his RLS consultant, Austin reviewed his career from start to present, evaluated and assessed his professional strengths, determined his professional interests and goals, and formulated a Marketing Action Plan capitalizing on his marketable strengths. A new targeted resume was written emphasizing his most marketable skills and cover letter formats were developed. He was given detailed information on companies that fit his criteria and he was provided the names of key hiring managers. In addition, his contact network skills were developed and practiced, as were his interviewing and salary negotiation skills.
Austin used his multi-faceted approach immediately. He developed new contacts using his written marketing plan and carried out a number of informational interviews that led him to an opportunity at a growing firm in a similar field as before. With additional coaching, Austin negotiated an excellent compensation package and accepted the position. He is now very happy at his new firm.
